This course provides a comprehensive overview of ADHD, with focus on how this neurodevelopmental disorder impacts one's interpersonal and executive functioning skills in adulthood. Participants will learn about the challenges ADHD brings to various aspects of adult life and what one can do to manage them. Participants will also learn about the strengths associated with this diagnosis and the necessity of learning how to harness them.
Participants will gain and understanding of:
the criteria to meet the diagnosis of ADHD as outlined in the DSM-5.
what is meant by interpersonal skills and executive functioning and how the struggle with these two skill sets impact adults with an ADHD diagnosis.
the typical pitfalls adults with ADHD face in their relationships, professional life and self-esteem.
how to support adults with ADHD by helping them manage their symptoms and lean into their strengths.

Anne Byrne, LCSW
MEET YOUR FACILITATOR
Anne Byrne is a seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. Her areas of focus include ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, family dynamics, marital and premarital relationships, parenting, life transitions, and personal or professional relationship issues.
Anne has a particular specialty in ADHD, supporting both adults in managing their symptoms and leaning into their strengths, as well as guiding parents raising children with ADHD. Her approach is rooted in compassion, insight, and practical strategies that empower clients to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Anne’s journey into clinical work began after a successful career in corporate management, where she realized her deepest fulfillment came from helping others reach their full potential. With the support of her own therapist, she pursued a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Wayne State University, followed by a fellowship at the Yale University Child Study Center. She has been dedicated to clinical practice in Chicago ever since, committed to helping clients build resilience, foster meaningful relationships, and thrive in all areas of life.
