Ethics In The Age of Google, Social Media & Political Divide
IN PERSON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
with Noelle McWard, LCSW
Our professional code of ethics has not been updated to account for many of the ethical questions, concerns and considerations that exist in our modern world. With personal information easily accessible on the internet and social media - both ours and our clients - issues related to privacy and confidentiality become more complex.
We live in a world that is more politically divided, and where one's positions about politics and world events are brought more often into the therapy room. What does this mean in terms of your own self disclosure, or working with clients whose views are in opposition to your own?
This workshop will explore these modern issues and how to ethically navigate them. This workshop will be interactive and conversational. Participants will be encouraged to come with questions and personal experiences related to these topics.
Participants will:
Deepen their understanding of ethical concerns in our modern world of increased information, and decreased privacy.
Explore ethical considerations related to self disclosure of political/world views.
Learn how to ethically use social media, both personally and professionally.
Review key principles in our code of ethics to help guide ethically challenging situations.
