The interactive lecture will provide framework for addressing and recognizing aspects of privilege, implicit bias with the goal of furthering cultural competency in and out of therapeutic spaces.

Dr. Wendy Baker, Psy.D. MSCP, MSCJ (she/her/hers)

Dr. Wendy Baker is an Associate Director of Clinical Training at The Office of Placement and Training in the Clinical PsyD-Chicago department faculty member and professor. Dr. Baker's psychological clinical journey and training began at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, earning her Doctor of Clinical Psychology at Adler University, Chicago Campus. Dr. Baker completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Behavioral Health Services. Dr. Baker has worked in a variety of clinical settings including foster care agencies, community mental health facilities, ER and hospital facilities, private practice, and residential settings. As a former Chicago Police Officer Dr. Baker naturally drawn to all facets of assessment, diversity, ethics, forensics, psychology, and the law.

Clinically, I work as a therapist and a therapist with Life Transitions Counseling, PLLC. My previous experience includes community mental health and hospital settings working with individuals, couples, and groups from various lived experiences has prepared me to work with diverse backgrounds and concerns. I work from a collaborative relational lens. My area of expertise is in working with individuals and couples who may be experiencing stressors in their daily life-functioning. My areas of specialty include adjustment issues, anxiety, cultural/social identity concerns, crisis, depression, interpersonal/relationship concerns, life transitions, multicultural concerns, personality disorders and women’s issues.
