My Style
My personal style is interactive, relational, and compassionate. The therapeutic relationship is important to me and as such something I consider closely in working with clients, along with the whole person and prioritizing cultural differences. I believe my global experiences, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural background strengthens my ability to do so. As for my clinical style, I focus on evidence-based practices-- predominantly cognitive behavioral therapies (e.g., mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy), and take a neuroscience- and trauma-informed approach to care.
My Specialities / Area of Focus
I specialize in treating anxiety disorders-- am a Certified Clinical Anxiety Professional; trauma recovery; grief and loss and chronic medical conditions; and in working with difficult people/family members. Additionally, I am predominantly trained in cognitive-behavioral therapies; and am Spanish speaking.
What I Want You To Know About Therapy
Therapy is a process, but it is your process. My goal is to be your partner, collaborator and guide you back to, or toward, what you perceive as the best version of yourself.
Professional Background
I earned my Master of Clinical Social Work from Boston University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Anxiety Professional. I have worked in the mental health and human services arena since 2003 in various settings and positions. I have extensive training in Motivational Interviewing; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Gottman approach and affair recovery; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; and Schema Therapy (an integrative therapy that combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and emotion-focused therapy, among others) for both individuals and couples.
